The Model G-801/3 is a high-performance proton magnetometer combining in one instrument the outstanding features of the Marine G-801 and Airborne G-803 models.*

The system is designed for geophysical survey and various types of search applications. Conversion is quick and simple from small aircraft or helicopters to all shallow or deep-water vessels by selection of the appropriate accessories (Internal wiring changes are not required).

Accessories may be selected initially for only one application with others supplied on short notice at any future time. Components are modular, small in size, light in weight and will operate off AC or DC power. The system is ideal for the multiple applications of an exploration contractor, university or government survey group.

Based upon the principle of nuclear precession, the Model G-801/3 magnetometer offers absolute and drift-free measurements, worldwide operation, sensor simplicity and freedom from calibration and orientation errors.

Survey personnel can easily learn system operation and maintenance. Controls are simplified with monitor and alarm indications provided for important operating parameters.

Features

The Model G-801/3 features many design concepts for improved operation in diverse applications:

1. Provision (built-in) for the magnetometer console to operate, without modification, on various combinations of marine and airborne sensors, cable lengths, AC or DC power and a wide range of sensitivity and readout rates.

2. Increased repetition rates allow higher aircraft and vessel traverse speeds; defines both geologic features and magnetic objects with improved resolution.

3. Provision for the simultaneous recording of two separate full-scale analog resolutions on a dual-channel recorder. This provides both high resolution and large dynamic range for definition of small anomalies as well as better slope determination on large anomalies.

4. Reduced environmental noise effects through the use of magnetic shielding around all tuning components, pre-amplifier and low-level signal wiring, and through the cancellation (40db) of external noise in all orientations of the sensor.

5. Small size and lightweight for ease and flexibility in mounting, handling and shipping.

6. Selection by switch of various combinations of sensitivities, repetition rates and full-scale recorder resolutions to better suit application requirements.

7. Compatibility with all other geophysical survey instruments including airborne EM systems, gamma ray spectrometers, marine seismic profilers, and gravity meters.

At least 100% greater signal amplitude from new signal processing circuitry.

Simplified tuning by the use of "sample and hold" circuitry to display the precession signal on a front panel meter: precise, fast, and quantitative.

Monitor and alarm circuits to measure important system operating parameters and indicate incorrect or marginal operation; reduces the possibility of recording incorrect data and minimizes required operator skills.
